Richard has a BA hons in Fine Art and has been involved in Art and Design and Art Education for many years in Scotland and Yorkshire. He has had frequent exhibitions and is available to take commissions.

The reflection, transparency and movement of water are a particular fascination for him. His aim is to create paintings that capture a feeling of mood, drama or sense of place and yet have a still, meditative quality. Being familiar with the traditions and styles of Landscape painting from the past and from different cultures, he brings a contemporary freshness and directness to the genre without loosing a feeling of timelessness.

Richard generally uses Acrylic paint which enables spontaneous over painting and glazing, although he does work in oils and watercolour. Signed limited edition prints of his paintings are available.
